Marco Haller hekelt organisatie van de Volta ao Algarve na 'belachelijke' finish: "Dit is een lachertje... Het kan niet altijd de schuld van de renners zijn"

De openingsrit van de Volta ao Algarve 2025 eindigde in complete chaos toen meer dan de helft van het peloton een verkeerde afslag nam. Dit gaf Filippo Ganna van INEOS Grenadiers de kans om solo naar de ritzege te sprinten aan de andere kant van de weg.
Marco Haller van Tudor Pro Cycling Team was na afloop zichtbaar gefrustreerd en luchtte zijn hart bij Eurosport. "In de laatste kilometer werd de verkeerde afslag niet geblokkeerd door de officials. Natuurlijk volgen renners de motoren, zoals ze altijd doen. We hebben 190 kilometer afgezien om ons perfect te positioneren en dan gebeurt dit. Het is gewoon belachelijk", klaagde hij.
Haller riep op tot verantwoordelijkheid bij de organisatie. "Er moeten consequenties zijn voor de officials en organisatoren. Het kan niet altijd de schuld van de renners zijn. We zitten midden in een wedstrijdsituatie, dus dit is ontzettend frustrerend."

- Zal wel tussen Milan en Kooij gaan, Merlier moet eerst maar eens een grote ronde zien uit te rijden en het niveau van Groves is afwachten na z'n knieproblemen. Geef streepje voor aan Milan omdat die al uitgesproken heeft voor de puntentrui te gaan. Maar als Kooij snel een paar ritten wint, kan 't een mooi duel worden.
